After 26 years at the helm of Todd Mudie Group (TMG), founder Todd Mudie is stepping back from day-to-day management, handing the reins to two long-serving members of his team.
Ange McFetrich and Ben Millington have officially taken charge of the business, having already managed its operations for the past six months.
Todd says he couldn't think of two better people to lead the company into its next chapter.
“Ange and Ben are both extremely sharp and talented operators, but more importantly, they genuinely understand what TMG is about and why we exist: to positively impact our team, their families and our community.”
Ben joined TMG at just 16, straight out of school, as an apprentice interior plasterer. Over the past six and a half years, he has progressed from working on the tools to running crews and now managing the business.
“Ben's journey is pretty special,” Todd says. “To see him now stepping up to lead the company alongside Ange is something I'm incredibly proud of.”
Ange joined four years ago, bringing experience in executive support and project management. She has since helped establish systems and processes to support the growing business, particularly around scheduling, planning and communication.
Todd describes her as smart, driven and someone who makes things happen.
“Ange has become the glue that makes TMG such a success and I have enormous confidence in her leading the business alongside Ben.”
Building on strong foundations
TMG brings together finishing trades, including interior plastering and painting, working alongside builders on larger projects as well as directly for clients.
Under the new management structure, Ben generally oversees enquiries and quoting, while Ange coordinates projects, recruitment, workplace culture and relationships with clients and contractors.
The pair are now developing a five-year plan, with Todd encouraging them to bring fresh ideas to the business.
That includes improving efficiency and communication, with an AI automation specialist brought in over the past year to help streamline operations.
“The things he's done is unreal,” Ange says.
But attracting good people and maintaining a positive workplace culture remain central to their plans.
Todd credits the wider team for the company's success, including those working on sites every day.
“They're the real stars of the show and the reason TMG is what it is today.”
A commitment to community
Giving back has been a significant part of TMG's approach over its 26 years, with the company supporting sports teams, clubs and community organisations.
Its logo is a familiar sight on the backs of children's sports uniforms, reflecting the sponsorship it provides to help young people participate in sport.
The company also works with community groups, and Ange and Ben are committed to continuing that involvement.
What's next for Todd?
With a significant birthday milestone approaching, Todd says the timing feels right to step back and pursue other interests.
“I'm definitely not retiring. There's still a significant amount I want to achieve and plenty more I want to build and be involved in.”
He plans to devote more time to other projects, support charities and local organisations, and tick off a few bucket-list items.
After 26 years, he says he's grateful to everyone who has contributed to the business.
“I'm incredibly proud of what we've built over the past 26 years and extremely grateful for the journey.
“Most of all, I'm excited to see where Ange, Ben and the TMG team take it from here.”
